RESUMO

Detecting high-energy photons from the deep ultraviolet (DUV) to X-rays is vital in security, medicine, industry, and science. Wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductors exhibit great potential for detecting high-energy photons. However, the implementation of highly sensitive and high-speed detectors based on WBG semiconductors has been a huge challenge due to the inevitable deep level traps and the lack of appropriate device structure engineering. Here, a sensitive and fast pyroelectric photoconductive diode (PPD), which couples the interface pyroelectric effect with the photoconductive effect based on tailored polycrystal Ga-rich GaOx (PGR-GaOx) Schottky photodiode, is first proposed. The PPD device exhibits ultrahigh detection performance for DUV and X-ray light. The responsivity for DUV light and sensitivity for X-ray are up to 104 A W-1 and 105 µC Gyair -1 cm-2, respectively. Especially, the interface pyroelectric effect induced by polar symmetry in the depletion region of the PGR-GaOx can significantly improve the response speed of the device by 105 times. Furthermore, the potential of the device is demonstrated for imaging enhancement systems with low power consumption and high sensitivity. This work fully excavates the potential of the pyroelectric effect for detectors and provides a novel design strategy to achieve sensitive and high-speed detectors.

The field of transcriptional regulation has revealed the vital role of chromatin modifiers in human diseases from the beginning of functional exploration to the process of participating in many types of disease regulatory mechanisms. Chromatin modifiers are a class of enzymes that can catalyze the chemical conversion of pyrimidine residues or amino acid residues, including histone modifiers, DNA methyltransferases, and chromatin remodeling complexes. Chromatin modifiers assist in the formation of transcriptional regulatory circuits between transcription factors, enhancers, and promoters by regulating chromatin accessibility and the ability of transcription factors to acquire DNA. This is achieved by recruiting associated proteins and RNA polymerases. They modify the physical contact between cis-regulatory factor elements, transcription factors, and chromatin DNA to influence transcriptional regulatory processes. Then, abnormal chromatin perturbations can impair the homeostasis of organs, tissues, and cells, leading to diseases. The review offers a comprehensive elucidation on the function and regulatory mechanism of chromatin modifiers, thereby highlighting their indispensability in the development of diseases. Furthermore, this underscores the potential of chromatin modifiers as biomarkers, which may enable early disease diagnosis. With the aid of this paper, a deeper understanding of the role of chromatin modifiers in the pathogenesis of diseases can be gained, which could help in devising effective diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Physician burnout is rampant, and physician retention is increasingly hard. It is unclear how burnout impacts intent to leave an organization. We sought to determine how physician burnout and professional fulfillment impact pediatric physicians' intent to leave (ITL) an organization. DESIGN AND METHODS: We performed 120, 1:1 semi-structured interviews of our pediatric faculty and used the themes therefrom to develop a Likert-scale based, 22-question battery of their current work experience. We created a faculty climate survey by combining those questions with a standardized instrument that assesses burnout and professional fulfillment. We surveyed pediatric and pediatric-affiliated (e.g. pediatric surgery, pediatric psychiatry, etc.) physicians between November 2 and December 9, 2022. We used standard statistical methods to analyze the data. An alpha-level of 0.05 was used to determine significance. RESULTS: A total of 142 respondents completed the survey, 129 (91%) were Department of Pediatrics faculty. Burnout was present in 41% (58/142) of respondents, whereas 30% (42/142) were professionally fulfilled. There was an inverse relationship between professional fulfillment and ITL, p < 0.001 for the trend. Among those who were not professionally fulfilled, the odds ratio of ITL in the next three years was 3.826 [95% CI 1.575-9.291], p = 0.003. There was a direct relationship between burnout and ITL, p < 0.001 for the trend. CONCLUSIONS: Among pediatric physicians, professional fulfillment is strongly, inversely related with ITL in the next three years. Similarly, burnout is directly related with ITL. These data suggest a lack of professional fulfillment and high burnout are strong predictors of pediatric physician turnover.

The origin of highly efficient asymmetric aminohydroxylation of styrene catalyzed by engineered cytochrome c is investigated by the developed Atom-Bond Electronegativity Equalization Method polarizable force field (ABEEM PFF), which is a combined outcome of electronic and steric effects. Model molecules were used to establish the charge parameters of the ABEEM PFF, for which the bond-stretching and angle-bending parameters were obtained by using a combination of modified Seminario and scan methods. The interactions between carbon-radical Fe-porphyrin (FePP) and waters are simulated by molecular dynamics, which shows a clear preference for the pre-R over the pre-S. This preference is attributed to the hydrogen-bond between the mutated 100S and 101P residues as well as van der Waals interactions, enforcing a specific conformation of the carbon-radical FePP complex within the binding pocket. Meanwhile, the hydrogen-bond between water and the nitrogen atom in the active intermediate dictates the stereochemical outcome. Quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM (ABEEM PFF)) and free-energy perturbation calculations elucidate that the 3RTS is characterized by sandwich-like structure among adjacent amino acid residues, which exhibits greater stability than crowed arrangement in 3STS and enables the R enantiomer to form more favorably. Thus, this study provides mechanistic insight into the catalytic reaction of hemoproteins.

The implantation of human embryos is a complex process involving various cytokines and receptors expressed by both endometrium and embryos. However, the role of cytokines produced by a single embryo in successful implantation is largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate the role of IL-1ß expressed in a single-embryo-conditioned medium (ECM) in embryo implantation. Seventy samples of single ECM were analyzed by a specially designed magnetic-beads-based microfluidic chip from 15 women. We discovered that IL-1ß level increased as the embryo developed, and the difference was significant. In addition, receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves analysis showed a higher chance of pregnancy when the IL-1ß level on day 5 ECM was below 79.37 pg/mL and the difference between day 5 and day 3 was below 24.90 pg/mL. Our study discovered a possible association between embryonic proteomic expression and successful implantation, which might facilitate single-embryo transfer in the future by helping clinicians identify the embryo with the greatest implantation potential.

Embryonic development is a dynamic process orchestrated by a delicate interplay of biochemical and biophysical factors. While the role of genetics and biochemistry in embryogenesis has been extensively studied, recent research has highlighted the significance of mechanical regulation in shaping and guiding this intricate process. Here, we provide an overview of the current understanding of the mechanical regulation of embryo development. We explore how mechanical forces generated by cells and tissues play a crucial role in driving the development of different stages. We examine key morphogenetic processes such as compaction, blastocyst formation, implantation, and egg cylinder formation, and discuss the mechanical mechanisms and cues involved. By synthesizing the current body of literature, we highlight the emerging concepts and open questions in the field of mechanical regulation. We aim to provide an overview of the field, inspiring future investigations and fostering a deeper understanding of the mechanical aspects of embryo development.

Sleep deprivation (SD) is highly prevalent in the modern technological world. Emerging evidence shows that sleep deprivation is associated with oxidative stress. At the organelle level, the Golgi apparatus actively participates in the stress response. In this study, to determine whether SD and Golgi apparatus stress are correlated, we rationally designed and fabricated a novel Golgi apparatus-targeted ratiometric nanoprobe called Golgi dots for O2·- detection. This probe exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity in cells and brain slices of sleep-deprived mice. Golgi dots can be readily synthesized by coprecipitation of Golgi-F127, an amphiphilic polymer F127 modified with a Golgi apparatus targeting moiety, caffeic acid (CA), the responsive unit for O2·-, and red emissive carbon nanodots (CDs), which act as the reference signal. The fluorescence emission spectrum of the developed nanoprobe showed an intense peak at 674 nm, accompanied by a shoulder peak at 485 nm. As O2·- was gradually added, the fluorescence at 485 nm continuously increased; in contrast, the emission intensity at 674 nm assigned to the CDs remained constant, resulting in the ratiometric sensing of O2·-. The present ratiometric nanoprobe showed high selectivity for O2·- monitoring due to the specific recognition of O2·- by CA. Moreover, the Golgi dots exhibited good linearity with respect to the O2·- concentration within 5 to 40 µM, and the limit of detection (LOD) was ~ 0.13 µM. Additionally, the Golgi dots showed low cytotoxicity and an ability to target the Golgi apparatus. Inspired by these excellent properties, we then applied the Golgi dots to successfully monitor exogenous and endogenous O2·- levels within the Golgi apparatus. Importantly, with the help of Golgi dots, we determined that SD substantially elevated O2·- levels in the brain.

With the development of social economy, the incidence of gout is increasing, which is closely related to people's increasingly rich diet. Eating a diet high in purine, fat, sugar and low-fibre for a long time further aggravates gout by affecting uric acid metabolism. The renal metabolism mechanism of uric acid has been thoroughly studied. To find a new treatment method for gout, increasing studies have recently been conducted on the mechanism of intestinal excretion, metabolism and absorption of uric acid. The most important research is the relationship between intestinal microbiota and the risk of gout. Gut microbiota represent bacteria that reside in a host's gastrointestinal tract. The composition of the gut microbiota is associated with protection against pathogen colonization and disease occurrence. This review focuses on how gut microbiota affects gout through uric acid and discusses the types of bacteria that may be involved in the occurrence and progression of gout. We also describe potential therapy for gout by restoring gut microbiota homeostasis and reducing uric acid levels. We hold the perspective that changing intestinal microbiota may become a vital method for effectively preventing or treating gout.

Objective This population-based cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the association between thyroid hormones and renal function in euthyroid Chinese individuals, as the relationship between thyroid hormones and renal function in this population remains unclear. Methods A total of 661 participants were included in the study after excluding individuals with thyroid diseases, incomplete clinical measurements, or those taking medications affecting thyroid function. Participants were categorized into three groups based on serum thyroid hormone and antibody levels. The study adjusted for covariates and assessed the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) in relation to thyroid hormone levels. Results After adjusting for covariates, the study found a significant increase in GFR in the middle and highest tertiles of free triiodothyronine (FT3) and the highest tertile of total triiodothyronine (TT3). Serum FT3 and TT3 levels were significantly associated with GFR. Additionally, the study observed a significantly lower GFR in the highest tertile of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) compared to the lowest tertile. However, thyroid hormone and antibody levels were not associated with the ACR. Furthermore, the highest tertiles of TT3 and total thyroxine (TT4) were associated with a decreased risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Conclusion In our study among euthyroid Chinese individuals, we observed a significant association between thyroid function and GFR. Specifically, lower FT3, TT3, and higher TSH were associated with reduced GFR, indicating a potential role for thyroid hormones in maintaining renal function. Furthermore, lower levels of TT3 and TT4 were associated with an increased risk of CKD. These findings suggest a direct link between thyroid and renal function, even in euthyroid individuals, emphasizing the need for further investigation to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic implications.

BACKGROUND: Despite being one of the most prevalent sleep disorders, obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome (OSAHS) has limited information on its immunologic foundation. The immunological underpinnings of certain major psychiatric diseases have been uncovered in recent years thanks to the extensive use of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and genotyping techniques using high-density genetic markers (e.g., SNP or CNVs). But this tactic hasn't yet been applied to OSAHS. Using a Mendelian randomization analysis, we analyzed the causal link between immune cells and the illness in order to comprehend the immunological bases of OSAHS. AIM: To investigate the immune cells' association with OSAHS via genetic methods, guiding future clinical research. METHODS: A comprehensive two-sample mendelian randomization study was conducted to investigate the causal relationship between immune cell characteristics and OSAHS. Summary statistics for each immune cell feature were obtained from the GWAS catalog. Information on 731 immune cell properties, such as morphologic parameters, median fluorescence intensity, absolute cellular, and relative cellular, was compiled using publicly available genetic databases. The results' robustness, heterogeneity, and horizontal pleiotropy were confirmed using extensive sensitivity examination. RESULTS: Following false discovery rate (FDR) correction, no statistically significant effect of OSAHS on immunophenotypes was observed. However, two lymphocyte subsets were found to have a significant association with the risk of OSAHS: Basophil %CD33dim HLA DR- CD66b- (OR = 1.03, 95%CI = 1.01-1.03, P < 0.001); CD38 on IgD+ CD24- B cell (OR = 1.04, 95%CI = 1.02-1.04, P = 0.019). CONCLUSION: This study shows a strong link between immune cells and OSAHS through a gene approach, thus offering direction for potential future medical research.

The development of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has significantly advanced cancer treatment. However, their efficacy is not consistent across all patients, underscoring the need for personalized approaches. In this study, we examined the relationship between activated CD4+ memory T cell expression and ICI responsiveness. A notable correlation was observed between increased activated CD4+ memory T cell expression and better patient survival in various cohorts. Additionally, the chemokine CXCL13 was identified as a potential prognostic biomarker, with higher expression levels associated with improved outcomes. Further analysis highlighted CXCL13's role in influencing the Tumor Microenvironment, emphasizing its relevance in tumor immunity. Using these findings, we developed a deep learning model by the Multi-Layer Aggregation Graph Neural Network method. This model exhibited promise in predicting ICI treatment efficacy, suggesting its potential application in clinical practice.

Coagulation-related genes (CRGs) have been demonstrated to be essential for the development of certain tumors; however, little is known about CRGs in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). In this study, we adopted CRGs to construct a coagulation-related gene prognostic signature (CRGPS) using machine learning algorithms. Using a set of 92 machine learning integrated algorithms, the CRGPS was determined to be the optimal prognostic signature (median C-index = 0.600) for predicting the prognosis of an LUSC patient. The CRGPS was not only superior to traditional clinical parameters (e.g., T stage, age, and gender) and its commutative genes but also outperformed 19 preexisting prognostic signatures for LUSC on predictive accuracy. The CRGPS score was positively correlated with poor prognoses in patients with LUSC (hazard ratio > 1, p < 0.05), indicating its suitability as a prognostic marker for this disease. The CRGPS was observed to be inversely correlated with the degree of infiltration of natural killer cells. For some tumors, patients with lower CRGPS scores are more likely to experience enhanced immunotherapy effects (area under the curve = 0.70), which implies that the CRGPS can potentially predict immunotherapy efficacy. A high CRGPS score is predictive of an LUSC patient being sensitive to several drugs. Collectively, these findings indicate that the CRGPS may be a reliable indicator of the prognoses of patients with LUSC and may be useful for the clinical management of such patients.

Background: Kawasaki disease (KD) often complicates coronary artery lesions (CALs). Despite the established significance of STAT3 signaling during the acute phase of KD and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling being closely related to CALs, it remains unknown whether and how STAT3 was regulated by ubiquitination during KD pathogenesis. Methods: Bioinformatics and immunoprecipitation assays were conducted, and an E3 ligase, murine double minute 2 (MDM2) was identified as the ubiquitin ligase of STAT3. The blood samples from KD patients before and after intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment were utilized to analyze the expression level of MDM2. Human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAECs) and a mouse model were used to study the mechanisms of MDM2-STAT3 signaling during KD pathogenesis. Results: The MDM2 expression level decreased while the STAT3 level and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) level increased in KD patients with CALs and the KD mouse model. Mechanistically, MDM2 colocalized with STAT3 in HCAECs and the coronary vessels of the KD mouse model. Knocking down MDM2 caused an increased level of STAT3 protein in HCAECs, whereas MDM2 overexpression upregulated the ubiquitination level of STAT3 protein, hence leading to significantly decreased turnover of STAT3 and VEGFA. Conclusions: MDM2 functions as a negative regulator of STAT3 signaling by promoting its ubiquitination during KD pathogenesis, thus providing a potential intervention target for KD therapy.

Background: The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants has raised concerns about the sustainability of vaccine-induced immunity. Little is known about the long-term humoral responses and spike-specific T cell memory to Omicron variants, with specific attention to BA.4/5, BQ.1.1, and XBB.1. Methods: We assessed immune responses in 50 uninfected individuals who received varying three-dose vaccination combinations (2X AstraZeneca + 1X Moderna, 1X AstraZeneca + 2X Moderna, and 3X Moderna) against wild-type (WT) and Omicron variants at eight months post-vaccination. The serum antibody titers were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), and neutralizing activities were examined by pseudovirus and infectious SARS-CoV-2 neutralization assays. T cell reactivities and their memory phenotypes were determined by flow cytometry. Results: We found that RBD-specific antibody titers, neutralizing activities, and CD4+ T cell reactivities were reduced against Omicron variants compared to WT. In contrast, CD8+ T cell responses, central memory, effector memory, and CD45RA+ effector memory T cells remained unaffected upon stimulation with the Omicron peptide pool. Notably, CD4+ effector memory T cells even exhibited a higher proportion of reactivity against Omicron variants. Furthermore, participants who received three doses of the Moderna showed a more robust response regarding neutralization and CD8+ T cell reactions than other three-dose vaccination groups. Conclusion: Reduction of humoral and CD4+ T cell responses against Omicron variants in vaccinees suggested that vaccine effectiveness after eight months may not have sufficient protection against the new emerging variants, which provides valuable information for future vaccination strategies such as receiving BA.4/5 or XBB.1-based bivalent vaccines.

Background: Health education games make health-related tasks enjoyable and interactive, thereby encouraging user participation. Entrepreneurs and health educators can leverage online crowdfunding platforms, such as Kickstarter, to transform their innovative ideas into funded projects. Objective: This research focuses on health education game initiatives on Kickstarter. Through an online user survey, it aims to understand user perceptions and evaluate the significance of 8 distinct components that may influence the success of such crowdfunding initiatives. Methods: A total of 75 participants evaluated games using 8 dimensions: game rules, learning objectives, narrative, content organization, motivation, interactivity, skill building, and assessment and feedback. The survey data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis, the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test, and multivariate analysis. Results: Exploratory data analysis showed that, among the 8 dimensions, skill building, content organization, and interactivity were the top-ranking dimensions most closely associated with crowdfunding health education game. The 8 dimensions can be grouped into 3 categories from the exploratory factor analysis: game content-, instruction-, and game design-related components. Further statistical analysis confirmed the correlation between these dimensions with the successful crowdfunding of health education games. Conclusions: This empirical analysis identified critical factors for game proposal design that can increase the likelihood of securing crowdfunding support.

Background: There is no consensus on the effect of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) inhibitors on lipid profiles in patients with psoriasis. This study aimed to investigate the effects of TNF-alpha inhibitors on lipid profiles (triglycerides, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, or high-density lipoprotein) in patients with psoriasis. Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases for articles published before October 17, 2023. Four TNF-alpha inhibitors (infliximab, etanercept, adalimumab, and certolizumab) were included in our study. (PROSPERO ID: CRD42023469703). Results: A total of twenty trials were included. Overall results revealed that TNF-alpha inhibitors elevated high-density lipoprotein levels in patients with psoriasis (WMD = 2.31; 95% CI: 0.96, 3.67; P = 0.001), which was supported by the results of sensitivity analyses excluding the effect of lipid-lowering drugs. Subgroup analyses indicated that high-density lipoprotein levels were significantly increased in the less than or equal to 3 months group (WMD = 2.88; 95% CI: 1.37, 4.4; P < 0.001), the etanercept group (WMD = 3.4; 95% CI = 1.71, 5.09, P < 0.001), and the psoriasis group (WMD = 2.52; 95% CI = 0.57, 4.48, P = 0.011). Triglyceride levels were significantly increased in the 3 to 6-month group (WMD = 4.98; 95% CI = 1.97, 7.99, P = 0.001) and significantly decreased in the 6-month and older group (WMD = -19.84; 95% CI = -23.97, -15.7, P < 0.001). Additionally, Triglyceride levels were significantly increased in the psoriasis group (WMD = 5.22; 95% CI = 2.23, 8.21, P = 0.001). Conclusion: Our results revealed that TNF-alpha inhibitors might temporarily increase high-density lipoprotein levels in patients with psoriasis. However, changes in triglycerides were not consistent among the different durations of treatment, with significant increases after 3 to 6 months of treatment. Future prospective trials with long-term follow-up contribute to confirming and extending our findings. Despite great efforts that have been made, photocatalytic carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction still faces enormous challenges due to the sluggish kinetics or disadvantageous thermodynamics. Herein, cadmium sulfide quantum dots (CdS QDs) were loaded onto carbon, oxygen-doped boron nitride (BN) and encapsulated by titanium carbide (Ti3C2, MXene) layers to construct a ternary composite. The uniform distribution of CdS QDs and the tight interfacial interaction among the three components could be achieved by adjusting the loading amounts of CdS QDs and MXene. The ternary 100MX/CQ/BN sample gave a productive rate of 2.45 and 0.44 µmol g-1 h-1 for carbon monoxide (CO) and methane (CH4), respectively. This CO yield is 1.93 and 6.13 times higher than that of CdS QDs/BN and BN counterparts. The photocatalytic durability of the ternary composite is significantly improved compared with CdS QDs/BN because MXene can protect CdS from photocorrosion. The characterization results demonstrate that the excellent CO2 adsorption and activation capabilities of BN, the visible light absorption of CdS QDs, the good conductivity of MXene and the well-matched energy band alignment jointly promote the photocatalytic performance of the ternary catalyst.

In this study, we collected 56 species of fishery organisms (including fish, crustaceans, cephalopods, gastropods, and bivalves) from four seasonal survey cruises at the Dachen fishery grounds. We measured the concentrations of seven heavy metals (Cd, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, As, and Hg) in these fisheries organisms. We determined their trophic levels using carbon and nitrogen stable isotope techniques. We analyzed the characteristics of heavy metal transfer in the food chain. The results showed significant differences in heavy metal concentrations among different species. Among all biological groups, bivalves and gastropods exhibited higher levels of heavy metal enrichment than other biological groups, while fish had the lowest levels of heavy metal enrichment. Heavy metals exhibited different patterns of nutritional transfer in the food chain. While Hg showed a biomagnification phenomenon in the food chain, it was not significant. Cd, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, and As exhibited a trend of biodilution with increasing nutritional levels, except for As, which showed no significant correlation with δ15N.

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is one of the leading causes of mortality from chronic diseases worldwide, and it is strongly linked to dyslipidemia. Dyslipidemia typically presents as an elevated concentration of low density lipoprotein (LDL). Hence, accurate quantification of LDL particles is crucial for predicting the risks of cardiovascular illnesses. Nevertheless, conventional techniques can merely provide indirect measurements of LDL particle concentrations through the detection of cholesterol or proteins within LDL particles, and they often require significant effort and time. Therefore, an accurate and effective method for identifying intact LDL particles is highly desired. We have devised a method that allows for the measurement of LDL concentration without the need for isolation. This method relies on proximity ligation rolling circle amplification (RCA). This technique enables the direct and precise measurement of the concentration of "actual" LDL particles, rather than measuring the cholesterol content inside LDL. It has a detection limit of 7.3 µg dL-1, which also meets the requirements for analyzing lipoproteins in clinical samples. Hence, this platform exhibits immense potential in clinical applications and health management.

BACKGROUND: Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the most common types of cardiovascular disease, and Heart Failure (HF) is an important factor in its progression. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value and predictors of multiparametric Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) in CHD patients with HF. METHODS: The study retrospectively included 145 CHD patients who were classified into CHD (HF+) (n = 91) and CHD (HF-) (n = 54) groups according to whether HF occurred. CMR assessed LV function, myocardial strain and T1 mapping. Multivariate linear regression analyses were performed to identify predictors of LV dysfunction, myocardial fibrosis, and LV remodeling. RESULTS: CHD (HF+) group had impaired strain, with increased native T1, ECV, and LVM index. The impaired strain was associated with LVM index (p < 0.05), where native T1 and ECV were affected by log-transformed amino-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels. ROC analysis showed the combination of global circumferential strain (GCS), native T1, and LVM had a higher diagnostic value for the occurrence of HF in CHD patients.

Meanwhile, log-transformed NT-proBNP was an independent determinant of impaired strain, increased LVM index, native T1 and ECV. CONCLUSION: HF has harmful effects on LV systolic function in patients with CHD. In CHD (HF+) group, LV dysfunction is strongly correlated with the degree of LV remodeling and myocardial fibrosis. The combination of the three is more valuable in diagnosing HF than conventional indicators.
